The 31st Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival is just around the corner and as Morehead City’s premier seafood market, we couldn’t be more excited to be involved in this much-anticipated event! Here’s a look at where you can taste the freshest local catch from Blue Ocean Market on the Morehead City waterfront and throughout the weekend of October 6-8, 2017.

Chef Anthony Cooks at Challenge Butter Stage

On Saturday, October 7th at the Challenge Butter Stage located on the Big Rock Deck, our renowned Chef Anthony Garnett will be showcasing five mouthwatering recipes, using fresh local seafood from Blue Ocean and Challenge Butter. Stop by the stage at the top of every hour from 11am – 5pm for FREE samples and to learn a few helpful cooking tips from our talented in-house chef.

While the event offers festivalgoers a variety of food throughout the weekend, the North Carolina Seafood Festival has a longstanding tradition of placing a well-deserved spotlight on the fishing industry in Eastern North Carolina and how it impacts our communities and benefits people across the state. Throughout the festival, you’ll have the opportunity to taste the freshest locally-caught seafood from Blue Ocean at events like the Grand Opening Ceremony and many of the cooking demonstrations held in the always-popular Chef’s Tent. Don’t forget, Blue Ocean’s own chef, Chef Tony, will be cooking up a few of his specialties at the Challenge Butter Stage on Saturday.

Eat Local. Shop Local.

You won’t want to miss out on tasting the freshest seafood available so keep your eyes peeled as you wander along the Morehead City waterfront for tents with the Got to be NC or Carteret Catch flag or logo to ensure you’re getting a taste of North Carolina’s freshest catch. Also, you’ll want to plan a visit to the Chef’s Tent to taste samples and enjoy live cooking demonstrations from chefs around the state vying for the coveted Chefs Hat award!
