There is something so truly spectacular about the “traditional American holiday” of Thanksgiving. Families across the United States each gather together with grateful hearts to enjoy each other’s company, and in many cases, each other’s home cooking! The magic of a good meal is that it has the power to help people set aside any negative thing happening in their life and focus on what is really important: their family and friends.
If you’re looking to spice up your traditional menu this year, why not opt for sweet potato pie? Here’s Chef Tony’s and Clarrisa’s popular recipe:
What You’ll Need
· 1 sweet potato (cooked)
· 1/2 cup butter (softened)
· 1/2 cup milk
· 1 cup white sugar
· 2 eggs
· 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
· 1/2 tsp cinnamon
· 1 tsp vanilla extract
· 1 pie shell (if you want to make your own, here’s a quick and easy recipe)
Boil (or bake for a different flavor) your potatoes for 45 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350° while you prepare the pie.
In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter and cooked sweet potatoes. Mash until potatoes and butter are fully incorporated. Add milk, eggs, spices and vanilla into the potato and butter mixture. Using a mixer, gently mix until filling is smooth and consistent. Fill pie shell. Bake pie for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
